The early years can be a confusing industry to work in, with no shortage of conflicting advice and rumours about best practice, communication, behaviour, teaching styles… the list goes on! Whether you’re a practitioner, manager or setting owner, doing right by the children you care for can be a real challenge – especially with obstacles like the 30 hours, endless paperwork, and Ofsted inspections draining your resources.

This is Anders Laustsenwhere Famly come in. Since 2013, the nursery management software company have been committed to providing free and accessible resources to everyone in the sector – not just for their customers, but for everyone who wants to access them.

“From the very start, Famly has been all about making life easier for people within the early yearssector. That’s why we still work closely with all of our customers, to make sure Famly can actually save time, have a positive impact on their setting and provide relevant resources and accessible CPD to improve the industry as a whole.” – Anders Laustsen, CEO, Famly

As they have continued to grow within the UK, Famly have pursued the strong belief that free, accessible CPD and cross-industry collaboration is vital in strengthening the early years sector as a whole. This has led to them creating a huge library of free resources available on their blog, featuring interviews with key industry figures including Sue Allingham, Sue Cowley, Cathy Nutbrown and Dr Sue Allingham.

They took their offering of free CPD even further recently with their very first live event, ‘The Famly Sessions’, held at the Childcare Expo London. This included talks from Naturally Learning, an outstanding forest school setting based in Cornwall, who discussed their unique pedagogical approach focused on holistic, sensory environments where child-led learning comes first. Following on from them, early years figurehead Nancy Stewart discussed the characteristics of effective learning and the importance of ‘counting what really counts.’ The event was a great success with over 80 attendees coming away with an improved understanding and key techniques to improve child development at their setting.

They’re very excited to announce that at Childcare Expo, Manchester in June ‘The Famly Sessions’ will be back! You can stay on top of any updates as well as receive weekly early-years related content by signing up to their newsletter here, or by liking their Facebook page for updates on who will be presenting and where to sign up for your free spot.

Famly will also be exhibiting within the Childcare Expo itself on June 14th-15th at Stand C40 and look forward to meeting you there! Feel free to check out their website here: https://famly.co
