Hazel Howe from Little Hatters

Hi, my name is Hazel and I live in Bristol with my husband and two children. I am a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant and have worked across EYFS and in both KS1 and KS2 in primary and infant schools in South Gloucestershire and Bristol.

In March this year, I took the plunge, left school, and set up Little Hatters Outdoor Playgroup in the grounds of my home. When planning and building Little Hatters the vision for me was to create a beautiful, natural space for little ones to explore, be independent and just thrive in the outdoors.
I am very passionate about creating unique, imaginative set ups and love designing that ‘invitation to play’ then stepping back and watching how each child interprets the resources. Tuff trays are ideal for this, and I incorporate them daily into my play sessions.

I also run SEND sessions for those children who find large groups overwhelming, giving carers the opportunity to meet and support others who may be going through similar experiences.

Fiona from Wildlings Outdoor Play and Stay

My name is Fiona Vatish, in 2021 I left teaching after 17 years to open Wildlings Outdoor Play and Stay in Finham, Coventry. As a trained teacher with three young boys who love being outdoors, I wanted to create an environment that encouraged independent play in a secure and relaxed outdoor space. At Wildlings I offer a place where children can explore, create, discover and be free to PLAY! An area where parents and carers can relax, socialise with others and even enjoy a hot drink and some homemade cake whilst their little ones have fun in the fresh air.

At Wildlings I love using tuff trays. They are such a versatile resource, easy to clean, store and can be used at various heights, which enables even the youngest children to get involved in the play. I love the flexibility the tuff tray offers. They provide so many opportunities for the children to explore and discover. They are great for using in an outdoor environment providing maximum access and minimum spillage.
